Elimination strategy for aromatic acetylenes
Article Abstract:
Elimination-based syntheses of aromatic acetylenes, which are capable of giving rise to unique structures as well as electronic properties due to their skeletal persistency and rich [pi] electrons, are presented. Elimination pathways are found to be as useful as the coupling of terminal alkynes for the synthesis of aromatic acetylenes, which generate products free from transition-metal catalyst residues.

Aryl-aryl bond formation by transition-metal-catalyzed direct arylation
Article Abstract:
Synthetic organic chemistry is facing a challenge from many years of use of direct arylation as a route towards the formation of a specific aryl-aryl bond. However, many studies focused on developing milder, lower temperature direct arylation reactions along with the development of the fine-tuning of catalyst systems to allow for the use of more inexpensive and industrially attractive aryl chstlorides.

Nucleophilic dearomatizing ([D.sub.N]Ar) reactions of aromatic C,H-systems. A mature paradigm in organic synthesis
Article Abstract:
Dearomatization reactions promoted by nuc leophilic addition to aromatic hydrocarbons are reviewed excluding transition metal temporarily coordinated pi-systems. The review hence provides a general overview of the methods available to affect the dearomatization emphasizing their scope and limitations.
